Why the misplaced belief in martial prowess? As someone else noted in another article the Pakistani military has never won a war (48/65/71) and survives merely by strangling the state itself…

Powerful words. Even for someone that doesn’t take exceptional pride in having an ostensibly strong military to ‘protect’ us, I find it embarrassing and shattering to see it all in shambles at the moment.

Now, more than ever, feels like a time we need to let bygones be bygones, jump on the bandwagon of peace with our Eastern neighbours.. and rebuild.

The civilian government has formed an independent inquiry committee to look into the Abbottabad affair. It is yet to be seen whether the findings will be made public eg: Hammoud-ur-Rehman commission.

How many of those 19 million kids go to school at the moment? And what is the current public spending on education in Pakistan? I wonder if the government needs $58 per child too. And what do you think would be a better way to get education to children in Pakistan?

Usually, I have my independent analysis but this time i would spare myself this agony because its too painful to indulge in this exercise and also because you have done so exactly as I would have done. I also fully agree with Ashih’s comments. But to expect brave, logical and timley action from PCB is asking for the moon.

Ashish, thanks for an insightful comment. While I would not dare compare Younus and Misbah to Dravid and Laxman, I think you definitely hit upon a useful analogy. There was just no enterprise from these two.
